Golden Girls

These 3 adorable mini mares came to DCER when their owner surrendered them in February of this year (2026), as life had become too busy for them to provide the time and attention they deserved. While it’s never an easy decision to rehome beloved animals, we’re grateful that they are now here with us, still a bit shy and unaware that they are already becoming a special part of DCER.

Introducing our newest littles:
Dorothy is 11 yo (2015), the tallest of the trio, and a natural leader.
Blanche is 10yo (2016), a charming girl with hints of black spotting.
Rose is 10yo (2016) and the sweetest spotted girl, soft-natured.

These Golden Girls arrived at the perfect time as we work toward growing one of our favorite programs. In the past, we’ve had the privilege of visiting senior living communities and hosting residents here on-site, and the joy those moments bring is truly something special. Mini horses are incredibly well-suited for these visits – their small size, calm nature, and curiosity make them wonderful therapy animals.

Our dream this year was to expand that outreach program, and we believe these 3 ladies will help bring giant smiles to many faces! So, of course, their names had to fit the mission, introducing The Golden Girls!

Stay tuned as we share more about Dorothy, Blanche, and Rose!

A note to potential sponsor:

Every horse needs several sponsors to fully fund their care, averaging $400/month at Dove Creek Equine Rescue. Monthly sponsorships from $10-$150/month are greatly appreciated!
