Indian

Indian is a beautiful 23yo (2002) Thoroughbred gelding who was a former racehorse. Indian first came to the rescue in 2018. After a couple of years at the rescue and in the training program, he was adopted by a lovely family. Unfortunately, being a good animal owner means making hard decisions to do what is best for the animal. After undergoing some very unexpected life challenges, the family had to bring Indian back to our rescue in the fall of 2022. This does not happen very often, but when hard times surface, we are always grateful when owners return the horse to DCER.

Since his return, Indian has developed a spinal issue (probably from his racing years) and is no longer rideable or adoptable. Indian now roams the open pastures with the herd and is often buddied with Bentley. He is gentle, loves being groomed, and will make your bad day better with his lovely presence.
