Irish & Clover

Irish, a 14yo mare and her foal, Clover, came to DCER in July of 2025 as part of the group of 9 horses seized by Randall County and awarded to our care.

Irish was placed with someone under the assumption that her best interests would be protected while her original owner transitioned back home. The agreement was that Irish would serve as a broodmare temporarily, and the first foal would go to the original owner, along with Irish’s eventual return. However, without consent, Irish was moved from Colorado to Texas, cutting all ties with her previous owner. We not only rescued Irish, but we also gained contact with the original owner, and have a great line of communication with her.

Today, both Irish and Clover are thriving. Irish is enjoying a well-deserved “mom break” while Clover begins to learn about human interaction, boundaries, and the foundational steps of being handled. Under the guidance of our trainer, they are making remarkable progress.
