The Merrie Emma Garnett Memorial Scholarship supports students who reflect Merrie’s values in education, equine studies, veterinary science, or meaningful involvement with horses. Interns practice compassion, perseverance, and lifelong learning while serving the herd and the community.

About the scholarship
Program Details
- Paid internship
- Two five-month sessions: Summer–Fall (June–October) or Winter–Spring (January–May)
- Hands-on experience across rescue operations, training, and ranch care
- Mentorship with the Head Horse Trainer, Rescue Operations & Volunteer Director, and Rescue Operations Assistant
- Skill development and a recommendation letter
You will assist with
- Feeding, facility cleaning, grooming
- Social media content support
- Saddling and working horses; riding as appropriate to skill and training plan
- Events and community outreach, as needed

Housing is not provided. Please arrange housing in Canyon.
