Nellie is a 13yo (2013) donkey who arrived at the Rescue in April of this year (2025) from an owner surrender. We named her “Nellie” because she symbolizes brightness, light, and strength.

We don’t know much about her past life, but we do know that her previous owners, somewhere along the way, stopped providing her with hoof care. We are dedicated to doing everything it takes to improve her quality of life. Our top-notch farrier, Kik Corona, displayed a great deal of patience and kindness on the first stage of trimming her severely overgrown hooves! The rehabilitation process will take a great deal of time as we slowly allow her entire body to adjust to the changes.

Nellie has shown us all her beautiful heart, and she is ready to be a part of the Outreach Program. Since getting Chickie, these 2 have become inseparable. the 2 best friends!
