About Shillelagh
Shillelagh (Shi-lay-lee) is a 22yo (2003) Registered Quarter Horse gelding who came to Dove Creek in 2009. He was purchased by Laurie Higgins-Kerley, owner and founder of the rescue, but has become a regular teacher and healer in the Volunteer and Led By Horses programs. Shillelagh has an enormous heart and has shared it with many who seek his guidance. He has a few different jobs here at the Rescue and does each job with all his heart and soul! His wisdom and strength are remarkable when assisting others in the Led By Horses program, where compassion and truth create transformation in clients. He is truly a one-of-a-kind horse, leader, and healer!

Temperament & Training
Shillelagh will begin formal evaluation and groundwork once his quarantine period is complete. His early interactions show a curious nature, strong awareness, and willingness to connect with handlers. Updates on his progress, temperament rating, and rider suitability will be added as he moves through the program.
